THE HEBRIDES
Photography by DAVID PATERSON
Text by DAVID CRAIG

This is a loving photo-essay on the unique landscapes, seascapes and weather systems of the Scottish Hebrides. David Paterson and David Craig draw together the history of the Hebrides, their situation today, and how they may develop and shift in the future. They have placed particular emphasis on the human history of the islands, including individuals and their personal stories and how they fitted into the overall pattern of the
islands’ life.

DAVID PATERSON has published many books on the Scottish Highlands as well as Nepal – The Mountains of Heaven (Hamish Hamilton) and London, Dawn to Dusk (New Holland). David now lives in Perthshire where he runs the Wild Country Picture Library.

DAVID CRAIG’s essay on the Hebrides draws together the history of the Hebrides, their situation today, and how they may develop and shift in the future. In particular he emphasizes and draws on the human history of the islands, with some references to actual individuals and their personal stories and how they fitted into the overall pattern of life on the islands.
